Out of love for the environment
Acting in harmony with nature and using our valuable resources in a respectful, sustainable manner have played a key role at Kleine Wolke ever since the brand was founded more than 50 years ago.
We are taking a stand against the current trend for throw-away consumerism through our high-quality products. For no matter how widely awareness of environmentally friendly behaviour is publicised, especially in the textile industry, in recent years the quality of products has been steadily reduced in many areas in order to offer low-cost products and stimulate consumption. Unfortunately, this is often to the detriment of the environment.
At Kleine Wolke you will find modern yet timeless designs with coordinated themes that you can integrate into your room design over a long period of time. The quality of our products arises as a result of combining high-quality raw materials with modern production processes. Our long-standing business relationships with our suppliers are characterised by reliability, quality and continuous development.
Many of our textile products are certified in accordance with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. Kleine Wolke has also been part of amfori BSCI since 2017.
Our bathroom rugs, terry towelling and bedding - almost without exception - bear the Confidence in Textiles label as certified by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This gives you the confidence that you are buying a pollutant-free and environmentally sustainable product. Kleine Wolke ensures that the requirements of the set limits in the supply chain are met by means of strict specifications applied to our suppliers and constant quality controls.
Using resources economically, reducing packaging expenditure by selecting materials carefully with a view to easier recycling at a later stage are all a matter of course today, and indeed are absolutely essential for cost reasons alone. We have a specialist company at our side to advise us on any environmental issues that arise.
Amfori BSCI is a leading corporate initiative that promotes and improves working conditions in global supply chains.
Amfori’s aim is to promote socially acceptable production conditions in companies all over the world through open and sustainable trade. By being part of amfori BSCI, Kleine Wolke is making a demonstrable and visible commitment to fair working conditions and occupational health and safety among its suppliers.
The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct covers the following aspects:
- The right to freedom of association and collective bargaining
- No discrimination

Compliance with this Code of Conduct is monitored and evaluated independently and on the basis of on-site inspections, or audits, of our suppliers.
Our Eco Care bathroom rug collection is made exclusively from recycled materials. We make them using recycled cotton or recycled polyester from PET bottles. Recycling materials results in lower energy consumption, and considerable savings can be made in emissions by cutting out processing stages and transportation, all of which help to protect the climate. By using recycled materials, we as a company are able to contribute to using resources sustainably, saving energy and protecting the environment.
How do we turn PET bottles into bathroom rugs? PET is a plastic in the polyester category. After the PET bottles are fed into the deposit machine and collected, they are pressed into bundles, sorted by colour, washed and then shredded into small flakes. These are melted down and processed into thin fibres in a very energy-efficient process. These are then used to make yarns for our bathroom rugs. 38 recycled PET bottles are required for roughly 1 kg of yarn. The high-quality processed polyester is not only a very hard-wearing and durable material, it is also fast-drying and easy to clean.
For this cotton, yarn and fabric remnants are processed and spun into new yarns, which are then reused to make our bathroom rugs. Eliminating the need to grow more cotton means resources can be sustainably conserved, and the production process itself is also more eco-friendly because it is a mechanical recycling process that does not require the use of additional chemicals. Cotton is associated with a range of advantages. It can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. It feels pleasant against the skin and is hard-wearing. The high-quality cotton is also breathable and temperature-regulating.
Cotton is a natural product and the classic material for bathroom rugs. It can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. It feels pleasant against the skin and is hard-wearing. The high-quality cotton is also breathable and temperature-regulating.
The main advantage of organic cotton cultivation is that there is no use of pesticides or herbicides. Organically farmed cotton can be grown using methods and materials that have minimal negative impacts on the environment, thereby maintaining soil fertility. Furthermore, the amount of water required during cultivation is lower than in other conventional methods. Organic cotton textiles contain fewer additives and therefore cause less skin irritation and allergies. Like other cotton textiles, they are extremely absorbent and durable.
Bamboo - a natural product derived from renewable resources that creates a natural ambience in your bathroom. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world and has hardwood-like properties. This offers many advantages. Kleine Wolke's wooden mats are very durable and extremely hygienic: no moisture is absorbed - instead it evaporates quickly on the surface. Bamboo is also known to be hypoallergenic and antimicrobial.
Natural latex - freshly tapped from Mother Nature. Our natural rubber bathtub mats offer protection in every respect. They protect the user from harm in the bath, and protect nature from damage too. It is a renewable raw material obtained from the milky sap of the rubber tree.
